Why the UK for Arabic Digital Content?

The UK has traditionally been a hub of Arabic-language media and has strong links to the Arab Arabic speaking world. The internet contributes to 8.3% of the UK economy, a bigger share than for any of the other G20 major countries and is a home to world-leading companies in telecoms, digital media, e-commerce and publishing.

One hundred million Internet users, 286 million phone users, and a three trillion dollar economy. These are the three numbers that anyone should remember when looking at the Internet and technology opportunities in today’s Arab world. Over 99 million of the Middle East Arabic-speaking users are already online, and that number has grown by more than 2200% in the past decade. It's already the 5th most popular language online there is significant room to grow. With Arabic the fastest growing language on Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn, Internet is playing a more central role in the economies of the region.Despite the substantial size and growth potential of this market, the “content gap” is, in fact, a chasm. Only 1.5-2% of Internet content is in Arabic creating a significant content gap.
